Codes of Conduct / MOUs

We determined these items should be included for members/attendees:

• Alcohol / other controlled substances
  • “Remember what is in your hand” Drink responsibly and be in a condition appropriate for performance.

• Profanity
  • Consider your culture for what is appropriate. Check with current band. If it’s okay with them in uniform, it’s okay with alumni.
  • If it is aggressive, discriminatory, or derogatory, it’s not appropriate. Refer to your nondiscrimination statement.
• Uniform – In uniform you represent the university and the alumni.
  • What is your uniform? State it clearly. Codes of conduct apply when in uniform.
  • Touch of Class @ Washington. It’s a mindset brought from the current band about the decorum of the band. It also refers to how to act in uniform (official vs. causal)
• Disciplinary procedures when codes are broken.
  • Michigan State uses specific terms with 3-strike rules.
